The Fort Lauderdale Garden Club proudly hosted a National Garden Club Standard Flower Show titled “Technology and Science in Bloom” at the Glenn F. Bates Garden Center on January 20-21, 2024. This engaging event brought together horticulture enthusiasts, garden designers, and the community, showcasing the intersection of nature, technology, and scientific innovation in the world of gardening.​

The flower show featured a diverse array of entries across three main categories: Horticulture, Design, and Educational Entries. Each category highlighted the creativity and expertise of participants, offering visitors a comprehensive look at the beauty and intricacy of floral arrangements and plant displays.​

In the Horticulture section, attendees were treated to an impressive variety of plants, showcasing the rich biodiversity that can be cultivated in South Florida. From vibrant blooms to unusual specimens, the horticultural entries demonstrated the skill and dedication of local growers, emphasizing sustainable practices and innovative gardening techniques.​

The Design category featured stunning floral arrangements that not only captured attention but also told a story, reflecting the theme of technology and science. Designers used contemporary techniques and materials to create eye-catching displays that bridged the gap between traditional floral design and modern artistry. Each arrangement was an expression of creativity, skillfully crafted to evoke emotion and inspire appreciation for the natural world.​

Educational Entries provided valuable insights into the relationship between gardening and technology. Exhibitors presented informative displays that explored topics such as Florida Soils and the relevance of PH in our soils – What about the PH. Roswitha Sidelko served as the show chairman, skillfully coordinating the event and ensuring its success. Under her leadership, the flower show became not only a celebration of floral beauty but also an opportunity for learning and community engagement.
