The Fort Lauderdale Garden Club proudly operates a shade house where a variety of plants are either donated or propagated by its dedicated members. This initiative fosters a love for gardening and strengthens community ties among local gardening enthusiasts. ​

The club organizes regular plant sales on the first Monday of every month from October through May, from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm. These monthly events are a wonderful opportunity for the community to acquire unique plants while supporting a good cause. In addition to the monthly sales, the shade house hosts two special plant sales each year. The Fall Plant Sale, eagerly anticipated by many, occurs on the second Saturday of November, providing an excellent opportunity to prepare gardens for the winter months. The Winter Plant Sale is held on the Saturday of the Fort Lauderdale Garden Club’s Standard Flower Show, showcasing a variety of plants and floral arrangements that highlight the creativity and skill of club members.​

The proceeds from all plant sales play a significant role in funding the club’s Youth Gardening program, which aims to educate and inspire the next generation of gardeners. This program teaches valuable horticultural skills and instills a sense of responsibility and appreciation for nature among young participants. Students from the BFF Youth Gardening group actively volunteer in the shade house during these sales, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to the club’s operations, including groundskeeping efforts.​

Purchases made during these plant sales are on a donation basis, making it accessible for everyone to participate. Furthermore, these donations are tax-deductible, providing an added incentive for those looking to support local initiatives while enhancing their gardens.
